Hello! I’m Elizabeth Jayne, but you can call me Liz. This is the part where you get to learn a little bit about me… so let’s get started, shall we? My photography training first began when I was a child, and my mother told me that I didn’t have to put people’s faces in the center of the frame, and under no circumstances was I to cut people off at the ankles!
From there, I went on to take various classes throughout high school with the encouragement from my mother and the help of some really amazing teachers who took a personal interest in broadening my photographic horizons and encouraged the continual growth of my skills. After high school I then enrolled in the photography department at Austin Community College, and later graduated with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Photographic Technology with a People-Portrait Focus.
As far as I’m concerned, photographing weddings really is the most amazing and totally fun type of photography, because it combines all of my favorite things to photograph! My absolute favorite is the real moments; to capture in an instant that secret look between two people… a stolen kiss… a genuine laugh. Combine that with the amazing details brides put so much time and effort into putting together… I love photographing the centerpieces, flowers, food, cake… all of it! Next to the love and connection between the bride and groom, it’s the details that truly make your wedding amazing and unique. Then mix in a little editorial fashion, and you have the perfect wedding! I feel so incredibly blessed to have what I believe to be the best job in the world, and I am truly honored to be invited to capture one of the most important days in a person’s life; capturing your history one moment at a time.
Some random things you might find interesting about me:
• I am a true Austinite. I was born at South Austin Hospital and have never called anywhere else home!
• My husband David and I were married October 23, 2009! We’re newlyweds, and we’re having so much fun. That picture on the left is us on our wedding day. :)
• I love bowling, even though I’m not very good at it.
• I am a big Sci-Fi fan (aka. huge nerd). I grew up watching Star Trek (all but the original), and still think Battlestar Galactica (the new one) is the best show ever to air on television.
• I could eat pizza every day as long as I had it from a different place each time. My favorite toppings are pepperoni, chicken, and bacon. My top 5 favorite local pizza restaurants are Austin Pizza Garden, Conan’s, Mangia, Double Dave’s, and Home Slice.
• There is nowhere in the world I want to visit more than Italy.
• I am a very spiritual person, and am constantly blown away by how big God really is.
• I was a Girl Scout from kindergarten all the way to my senior year of high school. My mom was my troop leader for all of them except Daisies.
• If I wasn’t a photographer, and my childhood self chose my profession, I would be one of these two things: a meteorologist (specifically to study severe weather… especially tornadoes) or an astronomer. I’ve always loved science.
• My favorite childhood memory: I loved waking up on Sunday morning, walking into the living room and sitting next to Dad listening to his smooth jazz music. Sometimes I can still smell the house if I hear the right song.
• I have always been drawn to music. I played the alto saxophone in middle school, sang in my church choir during high school, and always seemed to have a knack for remembering song lyrics. I like too many different types of music to choose favorite artists, but as far as live music goes, my favorite concert thus far was Dashboard Confessional at the Paramount Theatre. I would love to see Josh Turner sometime soon, and wish I had lived in a time where I could have seen Journey live (with Steve Perry as the lead singer). My favorite local band is Cruiserweight.
• I love Jane Austen. Pride and Prejudice is my favorite book, and Emma is my favorite movie.
• I’m scared of dinosaurs. Well, not all of them… just the extremely realistic mean looking ones that eat people in the movies. I can’t watch Jurassic Park because I’ll get nightmares. My husband makes fun of me for this… and can you blame him? It really is silly, but I can’t help it… they freak me out. :P
I hope this helped you learn a little bit about me. If you haven’t already, contact me! I’d love to hear from you, and would be honored to be a part of your wedding day. Peace, love, and a lifetime of happiness to you!
